About Us

Our Vision

Welcome to Baltimore DanceTechBaltimore DanceTech (BDT) was established in 1999 by Yvonne E. Walker and Stephanie Powell.  Our vision is to present dance as a healing art.  All students and families will be encouraged and nurtured in their study of dance and its related arts as they study dance under the guidance of professional teachers and mentors.

Our Mission

BDT is a family-centered school where our mission is to provide a professional level dance education for all students.

Our Goals

We believe that it is important that every student have achievable artistic goals. This is accomplished through instruction based on development rather than age and performance opportunities at school and in the community. We believe that student achievement is best realized in a well-disciplined, but positive and loving atmosphere.

Meet Our Directors

We have an incredibly dedicated and talented pair of directors at Baltimore DanceTech.

STEPHANIE POWELL, a John Hopkins University graduate who has worked with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Cirque du Soleil, The Lion King, and many others and YVONNE E. WALKER, who serves as Board Chair of the International Association of Blacks In Dance (IABD) and brings over 40 years of operations management and customer service experience to Baltimore DanceTech.

Our Teachers

Baltimore DanceTech employs some of the finest teachers in the Baltimore-Washington area. Our teachers are dance education specialists and are encouraged to continue professional development through readings,  attending workshops, and continuing their own dance education.  Along with our teachers, we continue to develop the most current and effective training methods for use in our classrooms. Occasionally we will have guest teachers to expand your dancer’s experience
